Climate Change and Sustainable Development Strategy: 2020-2030
About the Strategy
Recognising that we are facing climate breakdown and a biodiversity crisis which are impacting here and now, and will affect all aspects of our lives in coming years Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has resolved to formally declare a Climate Emergency.
This Strategy sets out the practical steps we can take over the coming years to minimise Climate Change impacts on our day to day lives, but also to suggest, ways in which we can try to counter the severity of this Climate Emergency. It also sets out how we will work towards the achievement of the United Nations’ 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals by moving closer to building an inclusive, sustainable and resilient future for our people, our environment and our economy. The effects of Climate Change can add significant stress to the development and growth of the economy, society, and a healthy environment. Developing sustainably can also help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help to prepare for the effects of a changing climate.
